President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday congratulated a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, on his 79th birthday.

Gen. Abdulsami, who handed over power to a civilian government in May 29, 1999, was born on June 13, 1942 in Minna, Niger State.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari lauded Gen. Abubakar for advocating Nigeria’s unity.

He acknowledged Gen. Abubakar’s sacrifice as the military leader, who set the country on the path of democracy and good governance.
