Publicity Secretary of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) Yinka Oguntimehin has warned Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to desist from its ploy to infiltrate Southwest security network, Amotekun.
Oguntimehin was reacting to calls by MACBAN for inclusion of its members and other ethnic groups in Amotekun corps.
He said MACBAN had created security challenges in Nigeria, and its call was a ploy to weaken Southwest security outfit and put the region in a security threat.
According to him, the call was an attempt to overrun security architecture of the region.
He said: “OPC will not allow Miyetti Allah set our region on fire. We cannot afford the kind of insecurity faced daily in the North. Our group will not watch the Southwest overrun by herdsmen and marauders. That is why we are warning leaders of Miyetti Allah to desist from their sinister motives and leave Amotekun alone.”
Oguntimehin berated Miyetti Allah leader in Oyo State, Ibrahim Jiji, for making such unrealistic request.
He maintained that the group lacked the credibility to call for its inclusion into Amotekun.
Oguntimehin urged the Federal Government to probe Jiji for making the request, noting that no Yoruba group had ever called for inclusion into northern security outfits, such as HISBA, or Middle Belt security outfit.
