Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Tuesday fired the education secretaries in the 23 local government areas of the state.
Although no reason was given for their sacking, the governor said it was a personnel adjustment to reinvigorate governance and deepen reforms in the education sector in the state.
A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, on Tuesday, also said the General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency had been removed.
The statement was titled, ‘KDSG removes GM, LG education secretaries.’
The statement said Mrs Saude Atoyebi had been appointed as the acting General Manager of CSDA, adding that “she will combine this responsibility with her role as head of the state Social Investment Office until a new GM is recruited through a competitive, advertised process.”
Adekeye further said ‘the most senior official in the education department of each LGA will act as education secretary until substantive appointments are announced.”
