The Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel, says Nigeria needs a professional in politics and not a professional politician as president come 2023.
Emmanuel disclosed this in Calabar while paying a consultative visit to delegates of the Cross River State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party.
He told delegates that he paid dividends in the private sector and also paid dividends in public and believed he is good enough for the office of Nigeria’s president.
“I keep telling people that we are a country of 200 million people and so we do not need a professional politician, but a professional in politics.
“A man who has managed to pay dividends in the private sector and also paid dividends in a democracy and looking round I think I qualify.
“If we can do this at the sub national level, what will we do the day we control the policies at the centre, it means Nigeria can easily be rescued.
“We are challenged by the problems in the country and we are coming in to rescue and restore Nigeria.
“We need somebody today that will get our policies right consistently, rise to the challenge, get us back and also challenge the status quo.
“I have succeeded in the private sector, public sector and so give me Nigeria and I will restore”, governor Emmanuel said.
He also told the delegates that Nigeria is one of the few countries on planet earth, where a graduate is a gateman and he comes with a message that he believes he has the solution to Nigeria’s economic challenges
He added that God’s gift to man is man and he has offered himself to partner with God to rescue Nigeria.
Earlier, the Director General of the Udom Emmanuel Campaign Organisation, Senator Gabriel Suswan, said in 2023, Nigeria needs a president who understands basic economics and knows the difference between money and cash.
He said Udom Emmanuel is a credible man and has the creativity to run the country.
On his part, leader of PDP in the state, Liyel Imoke, said Udom Emmanuel has the capacity to lead the country.
He pledged the state PDP will continue to work with him and support him.
