Enugu senator denies receiving palliative for constituents

According to Senator Okechukwu Ezea (LP-Enugu), he has not yet received bags of rice from the federal government to give to his constituents as a palliative measure.

This was stated in a statement made in Abuja on Monday by Ezea, the National Assembly representative for Enugu North.

"I have not yet received any material assistance from the federal government for my constituents, in the form of cash or food.

But if I do receive the palliative, I will share it openly and honestly in accordance with my values of justice and equity.
"In light of the extreme suffering experienced by my constituents, I have decided to personally fund the distribution of rice bags to all 102 wards in my district in the upcoming year.

"The sharing of the items to the beneficiaries is currently ongoing across the ward, but the distribution has concluded at the local government level," he stated.

As a stopgap measure against the removal of fuel subsidies, some media outlets cited anonymous sources to assert that President Bola Tinubu had given lawmakers tonnes of rice to distribute to their constituents.
