Family mourns Nigerian lady strangled to death in UK
Taiwo Owoeye, a former ophthalmic nurse at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, was discovered dead in her Suffolk, United Kingdom, home. Her family has expressed their sadness over her passing.
it was found out on Tuesday, November 28 that Taiwo's husband, David Abodunde, is suspected of killing her by strangulation.
According to reports, on Monday, November 27, the mother of three, who worked as a nurse in the UK, reported her husband's assault to the police.
When the police went to their flat the next day, they discovered Taiwo motionless and lying on the living room floor. The paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced her dead, despite their best efforts to resuscitate her.
Taiwo’s husband who also was said to be inside the apartment with her was thereafter arrested on suspicion of her murder.
The couple got married in 2016. However, the late Taiwo relocated to the UK in 2022 and was later joined by her husband earlier this year.
The deceased’s brother, Alex Owoeye, who mourned her passing in a Facebook post claimed that David was declared the sole murderer after an investigation carried out by the police.
Following that, Taiwo's husband—who was allegedly in the flat with her as well—was detained on suspicion of killing her.
2016 saw the couple's marriage. But in 2022, the late Taiwo moved to the UK, where her husband later joined her earlier this year.
According to a Facebook post by the deceased's brother, Alex Owoeye, who expressed grief over her death, David was found to be the only murderer following a police investigation.
"My dear sister, Nurse Owoeye Taiwo Morenikeji, who was married to Abodunde David Olubunmi of Ipoti Ekiti, has painfully left us," he wrote. After conducting extensive investigations and despite being caught in the act, the husband was found to be the only person responsible for the murder of his wife (my sister), according to the Suffolk Police in the UK, as well as the records and documents that were made available to us through mail and direct conversations with the UK Police.
Owoeye mentioned that the couple's three children were currently under the care of UK social services.
In addition, he told his family members to remain composed and assured them that justice would be carried out eventually.
Opeyemi Owoeye, a different relative, also posted on her Facebook page,
Olabanji Fabiyi, another Facebook user, reacted to the news of her passing and called it heartbreaking.
"The tragic news of Taiwo Owoeye Abodunde being murdered by her husband in Suffolk, United Kingdom, is deeply heartbreaking," he wrote. Even though Taiwo and I were not very close, her late father and my late father were childhood friends, and her mother and I are also close friends; all of them are from Igogo, Ekiti. It seems unlikely that Taiwo's provocation ever justified an act as heinous as strangling someone, given her upbringing. A clue to her husband's animalistic, barbaric, and untrained nature can also be found in the audio recording of their conversations before his tragic death.
