Female banker kills self in Lagos

A female bank employee in Ikorodu, Lagos State, who worked in marketing, took her own life.

It was reported that Amarachi Ugochukwu, 32, who passed away, drank insecticide.



It was discovered that the event took place on Monday on the bank's property.



Unknown to her coworkers, Ugochukwu entered the loo at around 1:00 pm and drank the insecticide.



When the phone she left on her table began ringing and she was not there to answer it, other staff members began searching for her.

Our correspondent received confirmation from a police source that Ugochukwu was discovered dead inside the lavatory, along with her suicide note and the insecticide bottle.



The woman claimed nothing was working well for her and attributed her decision to end her life to the harsh economic conditions detailed in the suicide note that was provided to our correspondent.



"In my life, nothing is working. My numbers are not high. I have a blocked mind. The financial situation is becoming more difficult. My choices are incorrect. My brain is disorganised. The future doesn't appear to be promising. I see severe hardship. She wrote, "I can no longer bear the pain," in her suicide note.

In the suicide note, Ugochukwu expressed her regret to her parents and other family members.

She went on, "I'm sorry, mom, dad, Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya."



In closing, she wrote, "Dear Lord, please have mercy on me!"



We learned that the bank manager had called the police to report the incident.



Ugochukwu allegedly locked herself in the bathroom to commit suicide, and the bank manager had allegedly told the police that she was discovered dead when the door was forced open.

Our correspondent learned that Ugochukwu was examined by a physician, who pronounced her deceased.

"The police took the body away and placed it at Ikorodu General Hospital so that an autopsy could be performed. The incident is being looked into by Lagos police, the source continued.

When reached, Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, did not answer multiple calls or respond to texts.
