Mother seeks justice over five-year-old daughter’s alleged defilement
Rita Ebirim, a distraught mother from Lagos, has called for justice after her five-year-old daughter was defiled by her brother-in-law.
Speaking with our correspondent on Friday, the woman stated that her husband had filed for divorce on August 2, 2022, and that she had been told by the court to give the father access to their daughter while they awaited the trial.
Ebirim clarified that his brother defiled her daughter on her second visit to her father.
"He came to pick her up in the morning and return her in the evening on a February day last year," she remarked. I told my lawyer that day that I thought something wasn't right with my girl, but he waved it off.
"The following time, he came to take her to see him, and she came back to me later than expected in the evening. She began to cry and push my hands away when I tried to bathe her later, telling me that I shouldn't touch her "there."
"She told me her uncle touched her there when I asked who touched her."
Ebirim claimed that when she called her daughter's father, he denied ever having touched her and, even though he knew it was late at night, gave the order for the girl to be taken to the hospital right away.
"I took her to two hospitals, and after she was examined, the doctors said she had been sexually molested and had bruises on her private parts," the woman continued.
