NIN enrolment hits 107.34m

As of May 2023, 107.34 million Nigerians, according to the National Identity Management Commission, were registered in the national identification number database.

The updated numbers were presented during a news conference held in Abuja on Friday by the Director General of the Commission, Abisoye Coker-Odusote.

According to her, as of May 2024, the nation's NIN enrollment figure stood at 107 million, having increased from 85.6 million in December 2023.

She stated that the number represented a 3.2% rise, or 3.2 million, over the 104 million recorded in December 2023.

According to her, the present NIMC management's strategy plan, which is in line with its 5-Point Agenda and aims to reach as many Nigerians as possible as quickly as feasible, is what made this achievement possible.

"As of this morning, the total enrollment on our database is 107.34 million, which is more than half of the estimated population of Nigeria," the spokesperson stated.

"We anticipate reaching the 200 million milestone as soon as the system upgrade and equipment installation at every NIMC centre are finished."

Each individual is allocated a unique NIN, which has become increasingly important in recent years as the focal point of a number of government projects meant to improve security, governance, and service delivery.
