31 Dead In Mali After Bus Plunged Off Bridge
A bus heading for Burkina Faso slid off a bridge in the southeast of the country on Tuesday, killing thirty-one persons and injuring ten more, according to the transport ministry of Mali.
It further stated that the incident happened at a bridge that crosses the Bagoe River at approximately 5:00 p.m. (1700 GMT).
A bus carrying passengers departing from Kenieba commune for Burkina Faso overturned a bridge. The ministry released a statement stating that the driver losing control of the car is most likely the cause.
Mali has a large number of roads and highways, as well as old and dilapidated cars, which contributes to a high rate of automobile accidents.
Earlier this month, a bus travelling towards the capital Bamako collided with a truck in central Mali, resulting in 15 fatalities and 46 injuries.
