Breaking: Joao Felix leaves Atletico Madrid to join Chelsea

Joao Flix from Atletico Madrid has been signed by the Chelsea football team.

The deal was verified by the club website in a statement released on Wednesday.

"Joao, an established forward for the Portugal national team, has signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge and will train with his new teammates in the coming days," the statement states.

Having joined in the winter window and ending the 2022–2023 season in Chelsea blue, Joao had previously spent time on loan at Stamford Bridge. In his 20 appearances, he scored four goals.

Joao expressed his delight about going back to the club in the statement.

"I can't wait to get started and I'm really happy to be back at Chelsea," it continued. said Joao.

"I had a great experience here previously, and I expressed to my friends and family that I hoped to return to the Premier League in the future. It feels amazing to do it with Chelsea, and I can't wait to go again."

In the summer of 2019, the 24-year-old moved to the Spanish capital to join Atletico Madrid, setting a record fee for both teams. He started his career at Benfica in his native Portugal.

Since debuting for the national squad in 2019, he has earned 41 caps for his country and won league titles in both Portugal and Spain.
