Dani Olmo to miss Barca’s key fixtures
Due to a hamstring injury, Barcelona striker Dani Olmo might miss up to five weeks of action, the team announced on Monday.
In the second half of Barça's 4-1 victory over Girona on Sunday, the 26-year-old was substituted out.
Olmo will be sidelined for at least a month, according to results of medical tests performed on Monday.
He will therefore be unable to participate in a number of important matches, such as Thursday's Champions League meeting against AS Monaco and the forthcoming La Liga games against Villarreal, Getafe, Osasuna, and Alavés.
In addition, he won't be present for Young Boys' European match prior to the October international break.
Barcelona expects to have him back in time for a demanding post-break season, which opens off with a game against Sevilla on October 20, followed by matchups against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Espanyol.
Olmo, who paid €55 million ($61.2 million) to transfer from RB Leipzig to Barcelona this summer, is off to a strong start in his new role.
He has scored in three straight games, including the victory over Girona, and has been a major contributor to their recent success.
Along with important players like Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong, and Fermín López, Barcelona's injury list is getting longer with his absence.
Barcelona's La Liga season is off to a great start despite these setbacks, and Lamine Yamal is telling supporters that they are in for an exciting season as the team produced its best goal-scoring start since 2017.
