Defence ministry gets 20 armoured personnel carriers

In an effort to improve the professionalism of Nigerian Armed Forces soldiers, the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday gave the Defence Headquarters twenty recently purchased armoured personnel carriers.

Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, made this announcement on Thursday in Abuja.

The PS gave the APCs to Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff.

Kana stated during the handover ceremony that the move was intended to strengthen the country's defence capabilities so that it could successfully handle new security threats.

He added that its goal was to improve the Nigerian Armed Forces' operating capacity.

He claims that this transfer represents a critical turning point in our continuous attempts to improve the operational readiness of our Armed Forces.
"By giving our troops improved protection and mobility, these armoured personnel carriers will enable them to carry out their duties in safeguarding our nation's sovereignty more effectively."

In a same vein, the CDS emphasised in his remarks the strategic significance of their role in strengthening the Armed Forces' capacity to react promptly and quickly to security challenges.

The purchase of these armoured personnel carriers demonstrates our dedication to provide our soldiers with the tools they need to meet changing security threats.

"I express my gratitude to the Ministry of Defence for its resolute backing and commitment to enhancing our country's defence capabilities," he declared.

Musa also conveyed his appreciation for the purchase of the APCs, pointing out that the handover event marks a critical turning point in Nigeria's continuous efforts to strengthen its defence capabilities and protect national security.
The procurement of these 20 armoured personnel carriers, in his opinion, has improved the Nigerian Armed Forces' capacity to meet the demands of the contemporary security environment and preserve peace and stability throughout the country.

Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, was also present at the ceremony.
