Four die, 10 injure in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash
In an accident that happened on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway on Tuesday, four people died and ten more were injured.
A bus carrying 20 people somersaulted after a tyre burst, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps' Ogun State Sector Command.
The collision happened at 5:57 in the morning near Sandcrate along the motorway. It involved a white Toyota bus with the licence plate ZUR87ZY.
"There were twenty people involved," Okpe stated. Ten people were hurt in the collision, and four adult males were officially declared dead.
"Excessive speeding and tyre burst, which caused the loss of control and multiple vehicle somersaults, are the suspected causes of the fatal single crash."
The deceased were taken to the FOS Mortuary, she continued, while the injured victims were brought to Victory Hospital in Ogere.
This collision is just one of many recent car accidents that have occurred on the road.
On Saturday, a caravan driver lost control of his vehicle and fell off the Berger and Isheri sections of the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway bridge.
The front of the caravan was observed to be hanging at the bridge's edge after the caravan collided with it.
