Fraser-Pryce begins training ahead of her final Olympics
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the co-captain of Team Jamaica, has been assessing the weather in the French capital in preparation for her fifth and last Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
The eight-time Olympian exercised at the Complexe Sportiff de I'ile des Vannes, one of the official training facilities for Paris 2024, after arriving in Paris earlier this week.
Fraser-Pryce hasn't competed in many races this year. She postponed the beginning of her season until June 15 at a Kingston race. After competing at the Jamaican National Championships, the three-time Olympic champion secured her spot on the team by placing third in the 100 meters behind Shericka Jackson.
On July 16, during warm-ups at the World Athletics Continental Tour competition in Lucerne, Switzerland, she pulled out of her first race outside of Jamaica due to a minor pain.
The 37-year-old, ten-time world champion will compete in Tokyo 2020 alongside Jackson, Tia Clayton, and Forbes Shashalee in an attempt to hold the 100-meter title previously held by Elaine Thompson-Herah.
Fraser-Pryce, age three, will compete on Friday, August 2, in the 100-meter qualifying round, hoping to advance to the August 3 semifinal and finals.
