FULL LIST: US issues three tiers travel warning for Americans in 13 Middle East nations
The United States Government has released revised security guidance for American travelers in the Middle East following military strikes involving US and Israeli forces that targeted sites in Iran, including the capital city of Tehran.
In light of the ongoing violence, the United States Department of State has introduced a three-tier travel advisory system for Americans in 13 countries across the Middle East and South Asia, advising citizens currently abroad to remain vigilant, restrict their movements, or depart if feasible.
The latest update and categories were obtained from a recent check on the International Travel website on Monday morning by our correspondent.
The Bureau of Consular Affairs of the US Department of State offers comprehensive destination-specific travel and risk information to assist Americans in making well-informed international travel choices.
In the meantime, the military action, which was announced by Donald Trump, was characterized by officials as a measure to "eliminate imminent threats" associated with Iran’s missile and military programs.
Trump stated that the strikes signified the commencement of significant combat operations aimed at dismantling Iran’s missile production capabilities and naval assets.
This military action came after several months of escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
In a significant turn of events, Trump also asserted that Iran’s supreme leader had been killed in the strikes.
Iranian state media subsequently confirmed the death of Ali Khamenei, although it did not comment on the alleged airstrike on his residence.
Following this, the state announced a period of 40 days of mourning and a seven-day public holiday on Sunday.

“Americans needing consular assistance are advised to contact U.S. authorities through the 24/7 emergency lines provided in the advisory,” it concluded.
Earlier on Saturday, US Department of State directed all American personnel in several Middle Eastern countries to shelter in place following US-Israel strikes on Iranian targets on Saturday that triggered explosions and plumes of smoke in Tehran.
The advisories apply to Americans in Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, and Israel, among others, with embassy officials urging citizens to remain indoors until further notice.
The State Department encouraged US citizens needing urgent help overseas to use 24-hour emergency consular contact lines.
Officials indicate that the advisory is a component of a larger initiative aimed at safeguarding Americans overseas, as regional military tensions continue to escalate following the most recent series of strikes.
