Ganduje denies plotting to dethrone Emir Sanusi
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, declared on Thursday that there was not the slightest bit of veracity in the claim that he was involved in a new scheme to depose Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano.
Following a widely shared report on social media with the tagline, "Ganduje leads a fresh plot to dethrone Emir Mohammad Sanusi," came the reply.
Recall that during Ganduje's tenure as state governor, the previous governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria was overthrown.
The court upheld his firing as well, a decision that many felt was likely influenced by the previous administration.
However, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Ganduje, speaking via his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, dissociated himself from the alleged move to remove the 16th Emir of Kano and Chairman of the Council of Chiefs.
It said, "Ganduje has nothing to do with Emir Muhammad Sanusi's current enthronement or dethronement in Kano." It should be mentioned that he is no longer the speaker of the House of Assembly or the executive governor, and as such, he is unable to continue with the Kano Emirate.
"It seems absurd that Ganduje, who has been out of power as governor for a while, would be charged with organising a new scheme to depose or install an emir. Currently, he is occupied with heading the APC. He is happy with the significant achievements he made in terms of the great democratic dividends, the advancement of infrastructure, and the excellent governance he oversaw as governor.
"Those responsible for this nefarious attempt to discredit the national chairman of the APC have exposed the hazardous and covert goal of the organisers, which is to sow discord between Ganduje and the administration.
"Let me state again how much he respects President Bola Tinubu, the party's national leader. The cooperation has been incredibly friendly, and no amount of blackmail will be able to undermine its strength.
