Guest dies during Lagos birthday celebration, host held

Salisu Aishat, a lady, and seven other people have been taken into custody in relation to the unidentified man's killing in Lagos State's Ijora Badia neighbourhood.

On Wednesday, it was discovered that Aishat was commemorating her birthday since she sent an invitation to a few friends and family to join her for a celebration on Olayemi Street in Ijora Badia.

According to what our correspondent learned, everyone was having a great time celebrating when the victim was discovered unconscious on the floor where the gathering was taking place.

As they assessed the victim, a wound on his head indicated that something evil had happened to him. It was later learned that people had approached closer to look into what had happened to him.
Speaking with our correspondent, a source who wishes to remain anonymous in order to protect himself from victimisation, stated that the development left partygoers perplexed.

The insider continued by saying that there was a chance the victim was hurt in the altercation that started during the celebration.
A brawl broke out during a party on Olayemi Street in Ijora Badia, according to the source. The man was located unconscious on the ground, and upon closer inspection, it was revealed that he had died and had a head wound.
"After receiving a report about the case, the Ijora Badia Division police officers responded to the scene, conducted an investigation, and took into custody the party planner and a few other individuals."

When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the state police, stated that the event occurred on April 16, 2024, at approximately 9:10 p.m., and that a concerned citizen had reported the issue to the police.

"The DPO led his patrol team to the scene immediately, and the celebrant, Salisu Aishat, and seven others were arrested," he continued. The body was found to have a wound on its skull.

"The body was removed and placed in the Mainland Hospital mortuary in Yaba in order to undergo an autopsy and be preserved. The inquiry is still on.
