Lagos identifies residents disposing trash in flood water, locks building
In the Ijesha neighbourhood of the Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area of the state, two residents have been recognised by the Lagos State Government as having disposed of trash in floodwater.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, made this revelation on Wednesday.
A picture of a guy and a woman rolling a thrash drum in their street's flooding water went viral on social media.
The accused allegedly tossed their soil into the floodwater, according to the X user #Adetutuadeoye3, who posted the image.
"These people just poured out their waste in the flood water," the writer stated. This is located in Ijesha Surulere on 2 Akewukewe Street, next to Ikate Local Government.
But Wahab answered back, stating, "We appreciate you alerting us to this. @lawma_gov @muyiwag,
The commissioner stated that the residence had been closed and that the building had been identified.
"The Environmental Health Service Department of Itire-Ikate LCDA has identified and locked the house immediately," he declared.
Floods suppressed many places, including Iyana-Oworo, Oshodi, and Lagos Island, bringing all operations to a halt.
The scale of the flooding in several districts of Lagos on Wednesday morning is depicted in photographs and videos that have been uploaded online.
The heavy rain that started at three in the morning on Wednesday has left many locals stuck inside their homes and blocked the roadways.
This flooding brings to light more significant issues that Lagos people face.
