Man United ‘willing to offer’ €60m for Lookman
According to rumours in Italy, Manchester United is interested in signing Ademola Lookman this summer and is prepared to make an offer of €60 million to do so.
Lookman scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final during his incredible season at Atalanta. La Dea won its first piece of continental cutlery with this victory. This memorable performance concluded a campaign in which the Nigerian winger finished with 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
Naturally, after such an impressive season, several teams have taken an interest in the former Fulham player. Lookman's transfer to United is reportedly desired, but there will be fierce competition for his services from Liverpool and Chelsea also understood to be willing to meet the asking price of €60m.
After finishing the season with a goal differential that was negative due to having a weak offence that managed just 57 goals in the Premier League, Erik ten Hag will be keen to bolster his offensive line this summer. Italian publication Calciomercato, via Sport Witness, reports that United is prepared to pay a premium to acquire the 26-year-old Lookman because they see him as a possible answer to some of their problems in the closing third.
Although the reported €60 million asking price might seem high, Atalanta is reportedly only open to receiving "irrefutable" offers for a player they believe is essential to the team's success, according to Calciomercato. Lookman, who had previously played in England's top division, would quickly get used to the demands of the British domestic game, and thus United’s hierarchy may see the wide forward as one of the brighter options on the market.
So far, Antony has pretended to be dishonest while wearing a Red Devils shirt, and Marcus Rashford's future is unclear. Arsenal has expressed interest in speaking with the England international, who is "set for talks" with Ten Hag.
