NiMet predicts three-day sunshine, thunderstorms from Monday

Sunshine and thunderstorms are expected from Monday through Wednesday, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.

According to NiMet's Sunday weather outlook in Abuja, Monday will be sunny and cloudy across portions of Yobe and Borno states, with a chance of thunderstorms over a portion of Kebbi.

The rest of the North is expected to be sunny with a few cloudy spots in the mornings, according to NiMet.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are predicted over portions of the states of Taraba, Kaduna, and Bauchi.

In the morning, isolated thunderstorms are possible across portions of Niger, Kwara, and Benue. across the North Central area, sunny skies with few cloud patches are anticipated.

According to NiMet, the South will see overcast spells of sunshine with a chance of isolated thunderstorms in the morning over portions of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

Parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Ogun, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states were expected to see sporadic thunderstorms.

On Tuesday, there is a potential of morning thunderstorms over portions of Taraba and Adamawa states, along with bright skies and a few cloud patches over the northern region.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are predicted to pass over portions of the states of Bauchi, Taraba, Zamfara, and Katsina. In the morning, there should be patches of cloud and sunshine in the North Central region.

As the day goes on, isolated thunderstorms are predicted to pass over the Federal Capital Territory, the states of Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, and Benue.

The agency said that throughout the early hours, there would be more cloud cover over the coastal region and brief sunny intervals in the South.

Over sections of Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers Bayelsa states, it predicts sporadic thunderstorm activity.

The weather service predicted clear skies across the North on Wednesday, with the possibility of sporadic thunderstorms later in the day over portions of the states of Zamfara, Kebbi, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Bauchi.

"Parts of Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue states may experience isolated thunderstorms later in the day," according to the forecast, which calls for sunny skies with cloudy patches over the North Central area.

"There is a chance of thunderstorms over areas of Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos in the afternoon or evening." The southern region is expected to be cloudy with sunny spells.

"In areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, strong winds may precede the rains; the public should take appropriate precautions."1q
