Police bow to pressure, release FIJ reporter

Daniel Ojukwu, a journalist with the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, who was kidnapped by members of the Inspector General of Police's Intelligence Response Team, has been liberated as a result of rallies organised by a few civil society organisations in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Following ten days in police custody, Ojukwu was freed on Friday.
This was made public on Friday by FIJ via its website.
Ojukwu was reported missing on Wednesday, May 1. His contacts were disconnected, and his whereabouts were unknown to friends, family, and coworkers.

At the police stations in Ojukwu's vicinity, FIJ filed a missing person report twenty-four hours after he vanished.

Furthermore, the last known location of the journalist's phones was traced by a professional detective for FIJ to an address in Isheri Olofin, which FIJ now believes is where the police initially picked him up.
