Strike: Osun workers shut govt secretariat, Osogbo power station
Schools, power plants, and the Osun Government Secretariat in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, were all closed on Monday in observance of the labour movement's leadership-directed industrial action.
Security personnel were stationed at the Government Secretariat and Osogbo Regional Transmission Company, according to our correspondent tracking adherence to the strike decision in Osogbo.
Additionally, public schools were closed, and several students who had not heard about the strike before leaving for school were seen coming back home in the Powerline Area of Osogbo.
However, students attending private schools were observed in their classrooms where academic pursuits continued uninterrupted.
Workers at Osogbo Regional Transmission Company also locked the building's entrance.
Speaking with reporters at the building's entryway,
Speaking to reporters at the building's entrance, Mr Musibau Okunloye, Chairman of the Lagos Generation and Transmission Council, urged the federal government to undo the most recent increase in energy prices and take more action to improve the lives of the nation's labour force.
"Well, I'm making the same appeal to the federal government as the Nigeria Labour Congress and TUC have made," he stated. Labour is someone they ought to pay attention to. Labour must be taken into consideration.
However, we are witnessing poor treatment of labourers in Nigeria these days. Therefore, labour should be the primary focus of any policy that is developed. Due to the fact that this will cause the economy to collapse.
"We will keep up this enforcement while members are outside the building. We have withdrawn our services. As much as they are not ready to listen to our demands, we won’t return to work.”
