We Have Captured Some Bandits’ Informants In FCT – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, said arrests have been made of some persons in connection with feeding bandits with information in the area.
At a town hall meeting in Gwagwalada, Abuja, the minister revealed this to the chairman of the Gwagwalada area council, traditional leaders, security personnel, and locals.

He gave residents of the Gwagwalada area the reassurance that there would be improvements in the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the coming days, even though he did not disclose the number of people arrested or the location of the arrest.

In response to a concern raised by locals regarding the lack of security personnel in the area, the minister instructed the commissioner of police to establish two more police divisions in the Gwagwalada area council right away.
Minister Wike is visiting the area council for the second time in a row to engage with the populace and offer solutions to put an end to the country's capital's insecurity.

Residents of the FCT are gravely concerned for their safety as kidnappings for ransom have been on the rise.

Six siblings and their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriya, were abducted on January 5 from their Zuma 1 home in the Bwari town of Abuja. The abduction resulted in the shooting deaths of two police officers.

Their father was freed by the captors to go and collect a ransom of N60 million to get his daughters back.
Nabeeha, a 400-level Biology student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was one of the siblings who was killed by the bandits on Friday. Her five sisters, Najeebah, a 500-level Quantity Surveying student, and Nadherah, a 300-level Zoology student, are still being held captive.

In the nation's North-Western and North-Central states, bandits have also gone unchecked; Kaduna has been the most severely affected. Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, and Katsina are among the other states impacted.

President Bola Tinubu was compelled to call an emergency security meeting on Monday due to the most recent attacks.
