‘I’m a single woman raising two kids, not a single mum,’ says Annie Macaulay

Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay has conveyed a message on social media regarding her preferred form of address.

In an Instagram Story posted on Monday, the actress stated, “I’m not a single mum. I’m a single woman raising two kids.”

This concise yet assertive declaration quickly elicited responses online, with many perceiving it as her attempt to rectify a prevalent label often used to characterize women who are raising children independently.

Her message follows more than a year after music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia publicly acknowledged in January 2025 that they had separated and initiated divorce proceedings, concluding one of Nigeria’s most prominent celebrity unions.

The couple married in 2013 through two ceremonies and are parents to two daughters: Isabel, born in 2008, and Olivia, born in 2014.

In the meantime, 2Baba has since entered into a new marriage with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in November 2025.
