‘It’s a mild misstep,’ presidential aide downplays Tinubu’s slip at Democracy Day event

Dada Olusegun, President Bola Tinubu's Special Advisor on Social Media, has downplayed worries about the President's fleeting slippage while getting into a parade vehicle at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration in Abuja.

"Mr. President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped," the assistant wrote in a post on his X account on Wednesday. It was only a small error. He started the ceremonial rounds right away. Nothing wrong.

The aide's remarks follow videos that went viral showing the President briefly losing his balance when getting into the car; however, the President soon got back up and carried on with the ceremony.

The Eagles Square ceremony served as the centrepiece of a series of celebrations held around the country to honour Democracy Day, which is observed annually.
