2,056 athletes to participate in MTN Champs season 3

Bambo Akani, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Making of Champions, announced on Wednesday that 2,056 athletes have registered to compete in the MTN Champs Season 3 in Benin.

During a media briefing to kick off the three-day track championship in Benin, Akani noted that the inaugural season of the competition was also held in Benin, where numerous talents were identified.

He further mentioned that several of the talented athletes uncovered during these competitions are currently benefiting from full scholarships at various institutions in the United States.

Akani expressed his confidence that these gifted athletes would represent the country with distinction in international competitions.

Additionally, Osaze Ebueku, the Senior Manager of Sponsorship and Go To Market (GTM), remarked that MTN has the ability to identify raw talent and develop them into world champions. He emphasized their long-term commitment to collaborating with partners to enhance the standards of athletics in the nation.

"We grow stronger together on this extended journey, and the involvement of partners like Edo State underscores its significance. We are in Edo to continue our mission of discovering and nurturing talent," he stated.

Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, represented by Amadin Enabulele, Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, affirmed his administration's commitment to grassroots sports development.

He highlighted his dedication to fostering young talent and supporting MTN’s initiative by approving the use of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and providing other logistical support to ensure a successful event in the state.

He added, "The Governor has tasked us with exploring every corner of the state to uncover talent, and that is precisely what we aim to achieve through competitions like this."
