Abuja schools join NLC strike, send pupils away
Due to the ongoing strike, students at Kubwa's Junior Secondary School and Government Secondary School have also been instructed to return home till further notice.
Speaking with our correspondent, a few senior secondary school students explained that they were getting ready for their second periodic test in the upcoming weeks, but they had been instructed to stay at home until they were summoned back or the strike was put off.
A pupil declared, "We are in SS1." We were instructed to return home due to the strike after we completed assembly this morning. They also mentioned that they will call us back or until further notice.
Since we are in week seven, our periodic tests should be written the following week. That being said, we are unsure of what lies ahead.
Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress launched a statewide walkout on Monday in opposition to the Federal Government's proposed N60,000 minimum wage.
The National Union of Air Transport Employees, the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, among other aviation unions, have all joined the organised labor's industrial strike action.
