AFCON: Nwabali available for selection in Angola clash — Official
The availability of Super Eagles custodian Stanley Nwabali for selection in Nigeria's Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal matchup against Angola has been guaranteed to Nigerians.
Regarding Nwabali's health, Nigeria is concerned. Nwabali has been filling in for Francis Uzoho during the competition.
The Chippa United goalkeeper took part in training on Tuesday despite being forced out of the game against Cameroon due to an injury.
But on Friday, hours before the game, the team's media officer, Babafemi Raji, told Channels TV that the Nwabali was ready to play.
He worked out yesterday. He worked out the day before yesterday. Yesterday, though, was far more intense.
Nwabali is thus open for selection as of right now. Given that he trained with the rest of the team yesterday, he is definitely open to being chosen.
Who gets to start is a decision made by the coach. On Channels Television's Morning Brief on Friday, he stated, "But he is very much available for selection for today's match."
Although the Super Eagles players are well-prepared for the forthcoming game, the media officer emphasised that they will not undervalue their opponents.
The first quarterfinal match of the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. today and features Nigeria versus Angola.
At the AFCON Cote d'Ivoire 2023, all eyes will be on Nigeria's Super Eagles as they battle Angola.
Nigeria wants to make it to the semifinals.
Coach Jose Peseiro expressed confidence in Francis Uzoho's ability to play in goal on Friday (today), amidst rumours regarding Nwabali's fitness for Nigeria's quarterfinal matchup against Angola.
Peseiro discussed the goalie's predicament prior to today's match.
He said that during the team's final practice before the game, his availability was still contingent upon passing a late fitness test.
