Alleged Defamation: Facebook User Apologises To Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo
One of the four Facebook users, Kingsley Ibe, has apologised to fellow gospel artist Mercy Chinwo for defaming and cyberstalking him after gospel musician Nathaniel Bassey filed a petition last week.
Ibe also gave himself up to the authorities.
He and three other people made an online claim on X that Bassey was the father of a popular gospel singer's son.
The petition names Dj Spoiltkid, Terrence Ekot, and Okoronkwo Ejike as the other three social media users.
"The police have taken his statement together with other incontrovertible evidence ready for prosecution over criminal defamation and cyber-related offences," according to a news release issued by Bassey's solicitors on Monday.
It was also mentioned that the defendant had shown regret for his deeds and was determined to make amends.
"Mr. Ibe has pledged to change his ways and become a more responsible member of society, demonstrating sincere regret for his actions."
"I have chosen to offer him a hand of friendship and love, and his elderly mother and family have also apologised on his behalf."
