Aviation college bags global award
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology has emerged as the best aviation training institution in the world with the highest number of trained instructors, the PUNCH reports.
According to a statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Odutayo Oluseyi, on Wednesday, NCAT received the award at the ongoing 2023 International Civil Aviation Organisation Global Implementation Support Symposium held in Seoul, South Korea.
The symposium, tagged “Working Together for an Innovative and Sustainable Global Aviation Community,” was organised by the ICAO in collaboration with the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, provided ICAO member states the opportunity to have comprehensive panel discussions with various aviation experts.
The statement read, “Adding to its numerous awards from the International Civil Aviation Organisation and other international bodies which have propelled strategic partnerships and collaboration by some African countries in the area of training in aeronautical and other adjunct courses, the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, has not relented in producing the necessary manpower for the aviation industry.
“Bilateral meetings with ICAO on implementation support activities, and diverse exhibition of the latest industry products and services further provided the opportunity to address the implementation of key priorities and agreed actions from the 41st Session of the ICAO Assembly, including capacity building for member states and achieving net zero carbon emissions for the aviation industry by 2050.”
Receiving the award, Rector of the College, Captain Alkali, in the company of the Director of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, Hassan Ejibunu, said the award was a further testament of the positive development in the Nigerian aviation industry under the able leadership of the immediate past Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Hadi Abubakar Sirika.
