BREAK: Barack and Michelle Obama support Kamala Harris for US president

Kamala Harris's presidential campaign has received support from former US President Barack Obama and his spouse, Michelle.

In a one-minute clip featuring the couple and the Vice President having a private phone conversation, Harris thanked the president for the endorsement and their long-standing friendship.

Obama contacted Harris and said, "We're calling to say that Michelle and I couldn't be more proud to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office."

"You have my admiration. The former first lady informed Harris that "this is going to be historic."
Michelle and I gave our friend Kamala Harris a call earlier this week. We informed her that we fully support her and believe she will be an excellent president of the United States, and that she has our full support,” Obama said on social media platform X.

Responding, Harris said: “Thank you both. It means so much. And we’re gonna have some fun with this too”.
Even though it has been more than ten years since Obama's last election, the first Black president of the United States, is still regarded as one of the most popular leaders in the Democratic party.

By August 7th, Harris hopes to announce his running mate.

Advisors to the late President Donald J. Trump stated that, since the Democrats had switched from Vice President Biden to President Biden as their nominee, they would not commit to another debate, in which they had previously committed to take part.
