BREAKING: Veteran actor Jimi Solanke dies at 81

Jimi Solanke, a folk singer and seasoned actor, passed away.

At the age of 81, the renowned poet and playwright passed away on Monday.

He was reported to have passed away from the cold hand of death while being rushed from his rural home at Ipara Remo in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan.

From December until his passing on Monday morning, Chief Solanke is reported to have been in and out of the hospital.
Our correspondent received confirmation from Hon. Dickson Awolaja, the state assembly representative for Remo North State Constituency, regarding the highly talented artist's departure.

Hon. Awolaja stated, "I recently learned of Pa. Jimi Solanke's passing. Given his admirable contributions to the advancement of our beloved country, his passing is undoubtedly another great loss for us in Remo North and Ogun State as a whole. May peace be upon his soul.

Among his many accomplishments are Kongi's Harvest, Sango, and Shadow Parties. Another name for him is Uncle Jimi.
