C’River gov gifts Super Eagles’ Moffi N10m for AFCON success
Terem Moffi, a forward for the Super Eagles, received a N10 million gift from Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu in recognition of his team's victory in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Moffi, along with his father and younger brother, accepted the gift on Thursday night in Calabar.
Otu also praised the player for being a good representative of Cross River and for living a life that the young people in the State should aspire to.
In addition to pledging his administration's continued support for youth and sports development as a means of reducing youth unrest and providing opportunities for them, the governor expressed his commitment to the Nice of France player.
"I am especially happy that you did a good job representing the State and that you have been a good representative of young people in the State and beyond."
"Like you, the State is full of talented people, and we will keep providing opportunities for them to succeed.
Otu said, "That is the reason we are investing a lot of money in youth and sports development."
He also praised the Super Eagles players for their contributions to the state's sports industry.
Moffi had previously given N1 million to Pelican Stars FC in addition to giving the team and Calabar Rovers 25 balls apiece.
The Eagles player who won a silver medal is now a Nice player in France.
He relocated to Nice in 2023 after playing for FC Lorient of France and Belgian club, KV Kortrijk.
Moffi made his senior national team debut in 2021 and is one of the players invited to the Eagles World Cup qualifying matches against the Benin Republic and South Africa in June.
