Chess-in-slums founder, Onakoya, returns to hero’s welcome after breaking Guinness World Record

In-game chessOn his return to Nigeria on Wednesday, Slums Founder Tunde Onakoya, who just broke the record for the longest-ever chess marathon with a time of 60 hours, was warmly welcomed.

The airport hosted a warm welcome for him, replete with singing and dancing.

In 2018, Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad set a record with their 56-hour, 9-minute play record, which was surpassed by Onakoya.

The new record holder claimed that he made an effort to generate money and publicity in order to give impoverished children in Africa access to school.
