Democracy Day: Tinubu to unveil world’s largest painting portrait in Abuja

To mark the nation's 25th anniversary of democracy, President Bola Tinubu will present the largest painting portrait on canvas in the world.

The president would reveal the artwork today at Eagles Square, Abuja, according to Opeyemi Alaba, the coordinator of the project, who spoke with Arise News on Wednesday morning.

He explained that the artwork was a message of optimism for Africans in general and Nigerians in particular.

Alaba, who declined to reveal the painting's theme, disclosed that 37 different painters, representing the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, contributed to its creation.

He also revealed that Queen Elizabeth and former US President Barack Obama's portraits served as inspiration for the painting.

Prior to this, the President had given the 2024 Democracy Day speech to the nation, addressing a variety of issues affecting the country.
In his promise to make democracy the norm for Nigerians, Tinubu encouraged people to have hope for a better future and to not be afraid.

The President announced that the Federal Government and organised labour had finally come to an agreement on the much-discussed new minimum wage.

In addition, he disclosed that the new minimum wage agreement will shortly be formalised through the submission of an executive bill to the National Assembly.
