DSTV price hike: More Nigerians consider SLTV, others

Many people have been looking for a better alternative since Multichoice, the broadcasting company, decided to raise the prices of its offerings in Nigeria four months after its previous increase.

Online, the public was incensed upon learning about Multichoice's new offering, with many claiming that the increase was announced at an inappropriate time.

Nigerians should look into other options instead of complaining about the increase, Kelvin Odanz, who tweets under the handle @MrOdanz, advised.

"Besides DSTV, there are a plethora of other services available to you if you can afford reliable Internet. for the purpose of football and other entertainment. Because there's nothing on DSTV other than football. Look into these choices and give up whining.

"I have zero interest in DSTV at all. Not much of note happens there, aside from football. However, the entire outcry about them raising their price is incredibly phoney. All of them have increased the cost of their products or services. even tiny companies. He tweeted, "So why shouldn't DSTV do the same?"

While some social media users continue to bemoan the increase, others searched for a less expensive DSTv substitute.

Many recommended SLTv as a less expensive substitute that offers the same features as DSTv.

Premier satellite television provider SLTV is run by Nigeria-based Metro Digital Limited.

Ten sports channels on Metro Digital SLTV, which offers more than 50 HD channels, broadcast live football games from the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Seria A, and UEL among others with a monthly subscription ranging from N5,000 and N2,500.
The greatest DSTv substitute, according to A. Ayofe, who tweets under the handle @abdullahayofel, is SLTv because it is less expensive and provides the same services.

Godgrace, a different user who tweets under the handle @flourishbidex, bemoaned the money she had been wasting on DSTv when SLTV provided the same service for less money.

"So, these are the channels SLTV offers for just 5k and I have been wasting my money on DSTv sub nice," wrote @flourishbidex.

Four months after its last increase, Multichoice raised the cost of its products in Nigeria in April.

It reviewed all of the package prices, and the revised costs will go into effect on May 1, 2024.
