Eagles stars who won silverware in 2023/24 season

Despite the fact that the 2023–24 season is over, many Nigerian players will remember it for a very long time due to their accomplishments with their different clubs throughout Europe and beyond.

While the 2022–2023 season was dominated by Victor Osimhen leading Napoli to their first Scudetto win in more than thirty years, a number of Nigerians made history in Germany, Italy, Belgium, Serbia, and England in the recently finished season.

Ademola Lookman will be remembered as a club hero in Italy for his role in ending Atalanta's more than 60-year trophy drought.

Lookman was only able to brag about winning the U-20 World Cup with England at the age of 26. But in the previous season, he developed a fresh side that disproved his detractors.
The Nigerian ended his quest for his first club trophy in addition to helping Atalanta win their first trophy in 61 years.

Known as the player of the match, Lookman scored three goals to lead Atalanta over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final, becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the competition's final.

Lookman's 2023–24 statistics, which include 16 goals and 9 assists, are not particularly striking, but they are noteworthy given his career trajectory. These numbers are his greatest to date in a career that has seen him go on multiple loan stints in quest of consistent football play.

For Victor Bonface and Nathan Tella, the season was nearly ideal in Germany as they shared the Bundesliga and German Cup with Leverkusen.

Die Werkself achieved a historic double by winning the Bundesliga and German Cup without a loss thanks to the two players. The lone blemish on Xabi Alonso's squad's record was their 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the Europa League final on Wednesday in Dublin, which was their only loss throughout all competitions the previous season.

Leverkusen's record 51-game winning streak came to an end with the loss, which was their first setback in 53 games.

With a strong start to the season, Boniface won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award four times in a row before missing nearly four months due to an injury. With 21 goals and 10 assists in 34 games across all competitions, Boniface is still among the most productive attackers in Europe despite missing nearly the whole second half of the year.

The Ondo-born striker, who won the German top flight's Rookie of the Season award, has also had a memorable season.

Tella is not the type of player that attracts notice from the press, but when called upon, he was always dependable.

In 42 appearances across all competitions, the midfielder contributed six assists and seven goals.
Another Nigerian, midfielder Raphael Onyedika, was also celebrated in Belgium after he assisted Club Brugge in winning their 19th league championship.

With 29 appearances and three goals and one assist in 29 games, the midfielder was a crucial member of the victorious team. His most significant contribution came in April, when he scored twice against Anderlecht to put them on track for a 3-1 playoff victory. He then added another goal in their 3-0 victory against Antwerp.

Peter Olayinka helped Red Star Belgrade win both the league and the cup, celebrating a domestic double in Serbia.

The 28-year-old scored twice on Saturday to assist his team defeat Cukaricki 4-1 and clinch the title of Serbian first flight champions.

The striker's season total increased to 10 goals with the brace, and he also contributed seven assists.

Joe Aribo, Wilfred Ndidi, and Kelechi Iheanacho are three players who have returned to the Premier League after spending a season in the Championship, with Southampton and Leicester City, respectively.

Following a sluggish start to the season, Aribo battled his way into Russell Martin's starting lineup, starting the team's final nine Championship games and participating in all 90 minutes of the three Playoff games.
