Edo shuts Ambrose Alli University’s satellite campuses

The immediate shutdown of all Ambrose Alli University (AAU) satellite campuses in Ekpoma has been mandated by the Edo State Government.

The government ordered that all academic programs and courses be held solely at the university's main campus in Ekpoma in a statement dated February 11, 2025, which was signed by Secretary to the State Government Umar Ikhilor.

The government's substantial investment in the university served as justification for the decision, which also underlined Governor Monday Okpebholo's dedication to raising the institution's standards.

"All satellite campuses operating outside the main campus are hereby shut down with immediate effect in accordance with Governor Monday Okpebholo's commitment to raising the standard of Ambrose Alli University and the government's significant investment in the institution," the statement said.

The announcement further stated that the management and governing council of the university had been directed to guarantee complete adherence to the mandate.
