Emirates Stadium to become Arsenal women team’s home
The women's team will have its primary home at Emirates Stadium in Arsenal starting in the upcoming season, the club announced on Tuesday, citing a "extraordinary" surge in interest.
Arsenal confirmed plans to hold 11 games at the stadium for the 2024–2025 season, including three Champions League games if they advance past the group stages and eight Women's Super League (WSL) games.
Any Champions League knockout matches would also have their home legs held at the Emirates.
All domestic cup matches and the remaining games will be played at Arsenal's Meadow Park ground, located in the commuter ring of London.
An average of little more than 52,000 people attended the six WSL matches held at the Emirates this season, including three WSL attendance records and two sell-outs.
"We have witnessed a remarkable surge in the number of fans attending games at Emirates Stadium, with two full sell-outs so far this season," stated Vinai Venkatesham, the chief executive of Arsenal.
"The next phase of our journey is to establish Emirates Stadium as Arsenal Women's primary home. We're excited to provide more fans the opportunity to see our women's team compete.
"We have a special connection with our supporters, who have shown up in huge numbers and pushed us forward every step of the way," stated Jonas Eidevall, head coach of Arsenal Women.
"Next season, Emirates Stadium will serve as our primary home, and we can't wait to play in front of larger audiences each week."
