Ensure quick dispensation of justice, Kebbi gov tells CJ
The Grand Khadi, Alhaji Siddiku Usman, and the recently sworn-in Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar, have been asked by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris to be prompt in carrying out their official duties by administering justice.
During the Monday swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Lodge in the state capital of Birnin Kebbi, the governor assigned the task.
Idris spoke, "I want to charge you to be above board in the discharge of your official duties; I urge you to be aware of your responsibilities." It is your responsibility to see to it that everyone in the state receives justice promptly.
"The government is prepared to provide you with the necessary support at all times to facilitate your duties because the judiciary," he reassured them.
He gave them his word that "the government is prepared to provide you with the necessary support at all times to facilitate your duties because this administration must not play around with the judiciary, which is an important arm of government."
In his reply, Abubakar thanked the governor for the honour and promised to carry out his duties in accordance with the Oath of Office outlined in the country's constitution.
In a related development, the governor also officially opened the State University of Aliero's Governing Board, as well as the Boards of the College of Nursing Sciences, College of Education, Argungu, Preaching Board, and College of Health Sciences, Jega.
Using the occasion, Idris told farmers in the state that pumping machines would be provided to support farming activities and an early bumper harvest in addition to the federal government's National Food Security Programme.
