EPL: Keane says Carrick not right manager for Man United
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has commended the club's enhanced performances following their thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal, yet he maintained that Michael Carrick is not the suitable candidate for the permanent managerial position.
As reported by Sky Sports on Monday, Keane made these remarks after the match on Sunday.
"Two excellent performances, but anyone can win two matches," Keane remarked on Sky Sports after the exhilarating 3-2 triumph against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
"Even if United were to win every game until the season's conclusion, I still would not endorse him for the role. I remain unconvinced that he is the right person for the position. Absolutely not.
"They require a more prominent and capable manager. Given the stature of the club and the challenges that lie ahead in the coming years, it is essential to have a manager who can lead them to league titles.
"Are we really going to believe that Michael Carrick can guide United to league titles? That is insufficient for me. I do not believe he is the individual to achieve that goal."
Regarding the performance against Arsenal, Keane further commented: "Considering their current standing and past performances, they exhibited a certain swagger and composure in their play.
"Two outstanding goals and substitutes made a significant impact. You can see the United supporters in the corner; it resembles the old days.
"Carrick has performed admirably. Two exceptional displays. They demonstrated genuine quality.
