Father in shock over two-year-old son’s DNA result
Following the discovery that he is not the biological father of his two-year-old kid (names withheld), a man named Stephen Moses has expressed concerns.
Moses claimed he was still upset at the news that his wife, who is AS genetically, has sickle cell disease and that their alleged child carries the AA gene.
After the boy's multiple sickle cell episodes, the man claimed he felt compelled to establish the boy's paternity.
During his appearance on the popular television show The Justice Court, he disclosed that he is not Teri-Oluwa's biological father, as proved by two separate tests.
Moses posted on Monday, tagging a now-viral video of the court session in a series of tweets on his X handle that said, "I am still in awe of how we got here." On May 21, 2016, we were officially married. After a year, on November 8, 2018, her birthday, she became pregnant. We first learned the infant was SS during the hospital stay that cost thousands of dollars during his first crises.
"I was perplexed at this point. When she originally told me, it was the enemy using the boy to harm us. While I didn't believe her, I also didn't challenge her. I began investigating the possibility that AA + AS could result in SS.
"I witnessed a few isolated instances of extremely severe weather, but because of the pleasant weather, it was not feasible in Nigeria." At the Lagos State Teaching Hospital and Ifako General Hospital, I chatted with a few midwives and counsellors.
"We continued to live together, pray, and fast, and nothing changed. The boy continued to experience crises. By now, we had run out of money and I was uncomfortable because I had heard numerous times that a DNA test was not possible. Therefore, we were unable to buy one.
Even after I marry SS as an AA, I still have to produce SS. I began complaining to my friends about this, and one of them sent me to Justice Court, where a DNA test would be performed at no cost. I thus got in touch with them and set up a paternity test sample for the boy and myself.
"The results of the paternity test were revealed in a court hearing in December, as you can see in the video. She has been avoiding and refusing to answer calls from the Justice Court to carry out the Judge's order to do a maternity test since December.
He went on to say that prior to the paternity being established, his in-laws had him jailed on the grounds that he had not been caring for the child. He added that after the test results were negative, the narrative was altered because his wife had not been in contact with him.
As I write this, Justice Court is unable to get in touch with her by phone. She doesn't answer phone calls. The amusing part about all of this is that, in November of last year, her family went to the Ajuwon Police Station and had me detained for failing to provide for the aforementioned child.
"Our family lawyer had to step in to get the matter out of the police station. I recall that she had the backing of the cops. December sees the DNA findings came out and it was negative. The need to clear herself arose and she went into isolation,” he stated.
Moses stated that since he was present during the labour and delivery, the likelihood of the child being switched at birth was low.
"Is the child swapped in the hospital?" is the last question in the video above, he pointed out. Though the likelihood is low, it might be feasible. That day, there were just two women in labour when I was in the labour room. The location was Gbadamosi, Ojodu; it was the Ojodu Health Centre, not a hospital.
"While in labour, the other woman already gave birth. I recall leaving to prepare dinner for her after following the nurse to clean him up and retrieve him. I dropped him next to her on the bed and waited for her sister to arrive. To be honest, this marriage completely destroyed me.
In the video, the wife responded, stating that she believed Moses' story to be accurate but disagreed with the outcome.
She defended herself by claiming that Moses didn't talk to her about it before the DNA test was done.
"Everything mentioned is accurate," she remarked, "but why wasn't he able to advise me to have DNA testing when we were initially diagnosed? Additionally, he didn't even explicitly state that he wished to do a DNA test. He started misbehaving in the house and sometimes he wouldn’t even come home until my brother said I should let him know whenever my husband was around.
"When my brother arrived while he was around, he explained what was going on because I had no idea." He then informed me that his father had dreamed that he was caring for the child of another man, and that was the justification he offered me that day. It continued in that manner.
The woman said, "Nobody touched me," in response to the question of who the child's father was. I'm positive.
