FCT commences the process of regularising civil servants.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration's employees have been advised to make sure they actively participate in the Commission's efforts to regularise personnel appointments by Samuel Atang, Head of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Atang made this statement on Wednesday at the FCDA Conference Hall during the regularisation exercise's flag-off.

The Head of Service underlined to the FCT Administration the significance of the exercise, pointing out that it would guarantee that the FCTA had precise personnel data and a cohesive workforce working towards a shared objective.

He assured that the FCTA will assist and cooperate to ensure the exercise's success, noting that it will instill a sense of identity in the personnel while cautioning Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies against failing.

"The exercise for which we have convened is fundamental and essential, serving as the cornerstone of the new FCT Civil Service. It emphasises that all staff will have a sense of identity through the regularisation process and subsequent gazette issued by the Commission."

We have been demanding an identity for FCT Civil Servants for nearly 15 to 20 years. Because we were neither here nor there, we all need the Commission to give us a sense of identity. The Federal Civil Service Commission was for federal employees, the Area Council Service Commission was for Area Council personnel, and the FCTA workforce was suspended like a pendulum swinging from one location to another, with Permanent Secretaries being posted, while the identity of our staff was shrouded in ambiguity”.
"To the glory of God, however, the FCT Civil Service Commission was officially inaugurated by Barr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT, through the means of the presidential approval, after the Act of the National Assembly was passed and signed into law," he continued.

"Let me not have the chance to penalise any employees, Secretariat, Department, and/or Agency that has declined the invitation to participate in the exercise," stated Atang.

Additionally, he gave the order to produce a list of all FCTA employees who are on course, study leave, leave of absence, or other similar matters with proper approval. The list should include the employees' grade level, designation, and service history. It should then be sent to his office for further submission to the FCT Civil Service Commission.
As for the Head of the FCT's Civil Service, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, thanked him for his support and cooperation and assured him that such cooperation would not be taken for granted.

He urged the FCTA staff to be dedicated to carrying out their duties and said that the commission was in control of all staff appointments, promotions, and disciplinary actions. He also mentioned that Nyesom Wike, the minister of the FCT, had contributed to the staff's release from inaction.
