FG to close Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours Wednesday
The Third Mainland Bridge will soon close completely, according to the Federal Ministry of Works.
In line with a statement released on Monday and signed by Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, the closure will start at noon on Wednesday, February 28 and end at noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
The Federal Ministry of Works wishes to notify the driving public that, as part of the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Third Mainland Bridge, both of the bridge's carriageways will be closed to traffic from Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at noon to Thursday, February 29, 2024, at noon. This will give the contractor time to complete a significant portion of the ongoing repairs on the bridge.
The bridge would not be opened to traffic during this crucial twenty-four-hour period as a result. It is therefore recommended that at this time, all users of the road take alternate routes.
It was suggested that drivers work with the traffic management officers stationed to control traffic and guarantee smooth travel in order to reduce inconvenience throughout the course of the day.
All inconveniences were regretted, Keisha said, thanking the people for their ongoing cooperation and patience.
