Fresh issues for jailed Ekweremadu

The London Metropolitan Police are looking into a fresh case involving former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, who was found guilty of human trafficking last year and given a 10-year prison sentence.

In Chude Jideonwo's documentary "Daniel vs. Ekweremadu," it is stated that Ekweremadu is the subject of an ongoing police investigation, however specifics are not yet available.

Friday, August 23, marked the publication of Part 1 of the two-part documentary series. Chude Jideonwo, a renowned filmmaker and TV host, wrote and directed it.

In an email to the producers that was seen in the documentary, Alexandra Meek, a police spokesperson, stated the following: "With regards to the live investigation, which is linked - On Tuesday, 8 November 2022 investigators from the Met’s Specialist Crime arrested a woman on suspicion of conspiracy to exploit for the purposes of organ harvesting.
“The woman, who is in her 50s, has been released under investigation. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
Ms Meek, who is senior communication manager for the MET Police, gave this as a reason for the police’s inability to participate in the documentary.
Chude claims: "The name 'Daniel' was given by a journalist and used by the documentary filmmakers for the victim-survivor of the first conviction under the UK's Modern Slavery Law - where Ekweremadu became the first to be sentenced to jail alongside his wife, Beatrice, and a doctor-friend, Obinna Obeta.

The court overseeing the case has ordered that the true name not be revealed.
In the film 'Daniel v. Ekweremadu', Senator Ekweremadu's journey from deputy senate president of Nigeria to British prisonbird following his organ harvesting conviction is chronicled.

This first-of-its-kind thriller-style documentary from a West African independent studio was shot in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Exclusive access to British prosecutors, police, and the survivor-victim's family is provided.
