Government of Niger , the burning of the RCCG building is cowardly.

The governor of Niger State, Umaru Bago, has denounced the alleged thugs' burning of the Redeemed Christian Church of God building in Kontagora town.

Bago characterised the attack on the church as "mindless and cowardly" in a statement released on Sunday in Minna, the state capital, by his Special Advisor on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, early on Saturday morning, a group of people suspected of being thugs stole goods and set fire to the church situated on Federal College of Education Road in Kontagora.

According to the governor, the state's values of peace and togetherness were directly violated by the burning and looting of the church, in addition to being an attack on the Christian community.
Bago stated, "We absolutely condemn this act and tell our Christian brothers and sisters, as well as other Niger inhabitants that the government prioritises their safety, security, and freedom of religion.

“Our state utilises its diversity and the peaceful coexistence of all religious and ethnic groups. We will not condone this act of violence.”
The governor declared that he had ordered a prompt and thorough investigation into the incident by all pertinent security agencies.
He pledged that those responsible for the heinous deed would be apprehended and appropriately charged.

Bago advised the people of Kontagora to maintain their composure and abstain from retaliatory strikes while they carried on their efforts to uphold unity and peace within their country.

According to him, his administration would keep taking all required safety measures to safeguard all houses of worship in an effort to stop similar awful and repugnant atrocities from happening again.

Bago further urged the state's citizens to exercise caution and alert the authorities to any suspicious activities in order to prevent other instances of these horrible crimes.

He promised the affected Church members and the larger Christian community the support of the state government.
