Hajj: Lagos extends payment of fare to Feb 10
As instructed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has moved the Hajj payment deadline from January 31 to February 10, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Officer, Taofeek Lawal, on Wednesday, Board Secretary Mr. Saheed Onipede announced the extension.
He claims that due to appeals from intended pilgrims who were unable to finish their registration in time, NAHCON, States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, and other stakeholders had a Zoom conference on Tuesday to decide to extend the deadline.
He encouraged those who fit this description to use the extension in order to pay the N8.7 million Hajj fare by the new deadline.
He went on to say that the group also urged prospective pilgrims who can afford the Hajj fare—minus the $500 Basic Travel Allowance (BTA)—should pay now and find their BTA separately.
While congratulating those who have completed their payment and submitted their forms for other official processes and procedures, the Board’s scribe urged those who are yet to complete theirs to approach any commercial bank and raise a Bank draft in favour of Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and submit same with their forms and valid International passports on or before the new deadline.
He emphasised that the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obfemi Hamzat, is dedicated to making sure that they realise their dreams of carrying out a blissful, acceptable, and rewarding Hajj exercise without incident. He assured them that the State Muslim Board would prioritise their welfare and comfort in the holy land.
Remember how the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in January, with the approval of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, arrived at N8,784, 085 as the Hajj for states in the southern zone of the country, working with the States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, private tour operators, and other stakeholders.
