Hyundai Nigeria unveils locally-assembled CNG vehicles

The CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has gained momentum with Hyundai Nigeria's nationwide rollout of CNG-powered vehicles for different car user categories.

The Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Creta, and Hyundai Tucson are among the models that are assembled in Nigeria.

Hyundai Nigeria, a Stallion Group affiliate, explained that its most recent products are an attempt to assist the national government in providing affordable, ecologically friendly, and sustainable transportation options for the people of the nation.

The majority of car buyers, including retail clients and status vehicle owners from various corporate enterprises, are the target market for the locally produced CNG vehicles, according to Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, head of sales and marketing for the company.

He said, "For example, the CNG Grand i10 is primarily aimed at fleet owners and first-time buyers, both of which focus on vehicle reliability and the low cost of ownership.
"Instead of having to convert those unsafe, imported used vehicles, our customers, including first-time car buyers, will be able to acquire tropicalised and affordable vehicles that come with factory fitted CNG facility with the Hyundai CNG vehicles."

"The factory-installed CNG kits, which include bulletproof CNG cylinders—which are safer than gasoline tanks and require less trunk space than converted conventional vehicles—come standard on our most recent Grand i10, Accent, Creta, and Tucson models."

According to Vashisht, Hyundai Nigeria has put in place auto loan solutions for customers who are unable to make a one-time payment for any of the CNG vehicles in order to fit all interested Nigerian auto purchasers into the cost-saving motoring incentives.

Recall that in 2023, the federal government launched the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG), a program designed to incentivise automakers to produce a large number of factory-fitted CNG vehicles for the nation.

Cars powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) have a lower carbon footprint than vehicles powered by conventional fossil fuels. In addition, owners of CNG vehicles pay only N300 per litre as opposed to the present price of nearly N1000 for gasoline.

"The recently introduced Grand i10, Accent, Creta, and Tucson guarantee higher fuel economy and low running costs, like all CNG-powered vehicles," Vashisht emphasised.

Vashisht continued, "Most importantly, our recently introduced locally assembled CNG vehicles are supported by over 30 years of nationwide aftersales network facilities of Stallion Group and backed up with a three-year Unlimited Mileage Warranty."

Style, economy, strength, and safety are characteristics shared by the recently released CNG automobiles. As an example, the stylish and sporty CNG Grand i10 is equipped with dual airbags, a rear parking assist system (RPAS), and an automatic gearbox in addition to a multi-point injection engine and safety features.

CNG Accent, which comes with a very strong body structure, six airbags, ABS, Rear view camera, safety windows, among others, is powered by 1.5 MPi engine mated onto 6-speed automated transmission.

The Hyundai Creta is a compact crossover vehicle that boasts a number of features, including a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, six airbags, rear parking sensors with a rear view camera, and more. Its clever engine features dual variable valve timing for enhanced performance, and its gearbox options have been expanded to include a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.

In contrast, the CNG Tucson is equipped with a 2.0-liter Smartstream engine and a clever gearbox that automatically modifies the interval between gear changes based on an analysis of your past driving habits.

With its cutting-edge, sporty SUV design, roomy interior, and abundance of safety features—such as Blind-Spot View Monitor, Driver Attention Warning, Surround View Monitor, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist—the Tucson is sure to draw in Nigerian car customers who value both safety and style.
