I was prevented from performing in Nigeria due to indecent dressing – Tiwa Savage

Well-known singer Tiwa Savage recounted that she was denied the opportunity to perform at concerts when she moved back to Nigeria from the UK to further her musical career because her clothes were deemed “too risqué.”

She said some of her previous music videos were rejected from television because they were seen to be too graphic.

This was revealed by the "Koroba" hitmaker in a recent BET interview.

"When I would show up at a show after moving back, they would tell me that my outfit was too risqué to perform," stated Savage. It was a matter of culture. Some of my very earliest music videos were deemed so offensive that they were not shown on television. Not even a bikini was on me.

"I remained stubborn in spite of the failures. My gowns were becoming increasingly skimpy. It was only becoming worse. Online, they were harassing me.The girls were secretly falling in love with my style and me, which made it humorous. They had to admit it. My following, my fan base, was expanding. Because there was a demand for my music, they were forced to book me for performances and play it.
Recently, Tiwa Salvage disclosed the source of inspiration for her recently released film, "Water & Garri."

Salvage claimed that she had the movie idea while intoxicated.

She said this at Livespot Entertainment's pre-launch news conference.

"I said this before, this is an idea I had in my head when I was drunk in my room, and when I brought the idea to my amazing team, they didn't make me feel stupid," said award-winning Afrobeat superstar Tiwa Savage. They just exclaimed, "What a great idea this is."
